Gauvain excited ahead of “revenge game” on St David’s Day

By Jordan Jones

This Sunday, fans will flood Newport Stadium ahead of a vastly anticipated clash between Cardiff City Ladies and table-toppers Portsmouth Women. The ever-positive Thierry-Jo Gauvain shared her thoughts on the contest.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game but we’ve prepared well.”

“As long as we give 100% percent like we do every week I think it’s going to be an exciting game.” She said.

Pompey dished out a miserable defeat to the Dragons in the second game of the season. But TJ believes that a lot has changed since then.

“We’ve come a long long way since September when we played them last.”

“It’s a bit of a revenge game. We want to put our stamp on the game now.”

“It’s going to show how much we have progressed.” She said adamantly.

Cardiff City LFC are one of the league’s form teams at present following their third win on the bounce last time out.

“They should be weary of us.” Said TJ.

“The past three games we’ve done everything we could to get the three points and that’s what we’ve achieved. Going into this game nothing changes. It’s going to be a good game.” She said.

St David’s Day celebrations will be held on Match-day, and TJ shared with us her excitement for it.

“We’ve been around local teams and local schools for the past two weeks. We’re so excited to see so many people so enthusiastic about coming to our game. We really are expecting a big crowd.

“It’s going to be a good day to celebrate St David’s day and celebrate all of our fans.” She said.

Cardiff City LFC vs Portsmouth WFC is this Sunday 3rd March at Newport Stadium.
