Cardiff City Ladies return to action at the Newport Stadium this Sunday afternoon as they welcome Billericay Town FC Women in FAWNL Southern Premier action.

The two sides last met in September, in a thrilling 3-3 draw. City were denied all three points by a late equaliser, after coming from behind to lead 2-3.

Cardiff and Billericay are separated by two places and three points in the table, with the Dragons holding a game in hand over their Essex counterparts.

Opposition Focus

Billericay sit 8th in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division table, having won three of their 13 league games, drawing four and losing six.

While James Gibson’s side may lack in league position, they certainly do not lack in goals. Their three wins have come by scorelines of 6-0, 6-1 and 4-2, as well as consecutive 9-0 wins in the early rounds of the FAWNL Plate.

Top scorer Maddie Biggs sits 7th in the league goalscoring charts, with 11 goals this campaign.

A familiar face in Billericay’s ranks comes in the form of Morgan Rogers. The Welsh international helped her side to a 6th place finish in the FAWNL Southern Premier last season and featured as the team defeated Hashtag United in the Essex County Cup Final.

She was called up to the national team for the UEFA Women’s Nations League fixtures against Iceland and Germany in December.

Fern Burrage-Male adds to squad

Since the Dragons’ last league fixture against Rugby Borough, manager Fern Burrage-Male has made two additions to her playing squad.

Wales u19 international Tianna Teisar has joined on loan from WSL outfit Bristol City for the remainder of the season.

Teisar recently signed her first professional deal with the English club and links up with her national team captain Maisie Miller.

On Tianna’s signing, co-owner Damien Singh said:

Bringing Tianna on board is a fantastic development for us.

“On behalf of our club, I want to personally thank Bristol City and Lauren Smith for helping to facilitate Tianna’s loan until the end of the season.

The club are also delighted to have secured the return of Lailah Muscat, who last featured for the Dragons in the 2020/21 season.

A former youth player at Cardiff City Ladies, Muscat has since featured for Switzerland’s FF Lugano and Adran Premier side Swansea City.

We are delighted to have both Tianna and Lailah with us!

Dragons support Rachel’s Day

Sunday’s game will see Cardiff City Ladies support the family of Rachel Day, who passed away in 2017.

Rachel’s family are raising awareness of Sepsis in Wales, and have been fundraising tirelessly since her passing.
