Match Report: Cardiff City LFC vs AFC Bournemouth

Goals from Kaitlyn Morgan and Cori Williams secure 3 points at Ocean Park

It was quite end to end in the opening exchanges but the first chance of note came to a Bournemouth forward as her header cannoned off the woodwork.

After that Cardiff grew into the game a bit more and they did have the ball in the back of the net after the 10 minute mark but the referee had already blown for an infringement on the Bournemouth keeper.

Just before 20 minutes had been played the deadlock had been broken as Kaitlyn Morgan gave the ball to Grace Seren who lifted the ball over the opposition defence and Morgan managed to get there before the keeper and drove it past her to make it 1-0.

Bournemouth fashioned a good chance as they had a shot from the right side of the box but O’Sullivan saved well.

After that, chances in the first half were few and far between. Laura Williams had a couple of long range efforts but the keeper was equal to them.

The second half started just as the first half finished with a lot of good possession from both teams but neither making any chances of note.

Half way through the second half there was a defensive mix up from the visitors and the ball dropped to Grace Seren in a dangerous position but she was unable to get the ball under her spell.

Cardiff came close again when a cross from the right hand side fell to the feet of Laura Williams at the edge of the box but she dragged her shot inches wide.

Shortly after, Laura Williams was brought down in the box and Cardiff were awarded a penalty. Cori Williams stepped up and sentit past the keeper to give the Dragons that much needed breathing space.
