Match Report: Cardiff vs St Austell

The Dragons bounce back in emphatic fashion as they put 10 past St Austell

It was a brilliant bounce back from the team, and very much a case of starting as they meant to go on as they took the lead in the first 5 minutes through Cori Williams. Our captain then doubled Cardiff’s lead shortly after, which started with some lovely interplay on the left side of the box. Williams and Grace played a one two which Williams managed to put past the keeper at the near post.

Throughout the opening exchanges, Cardiff threatened the St Austell goal but the third goal came in at the the tail end of the first half. Cori Williams played a ball across to Grace Seren, whose initial shot was brilliantly saved, but Seren confidently put away the rebound. Similarly to Williams, Seren doubled her tally quickly as a superb run and shot from Emily Poole was parried out and Seren was there to put it away. The score at half time was 4-0 to Cardiff.

The Dragons started the second half just as they did the first, as Williams scored again to compete her hat-trick.

The sixth goal came when a wicked ball from Poole met the head of Laura Williams, who powered it past the keeper.

The flood gates were well and truly open at this point as Ruby Scahill was played in, and hit a shot hard and low past the keeper.

Substitute Ingrid Ådland got the eighth as Chloe Lloyd dispossessed one of the St Austell midfielders and played through Ådland who clinically finished the move.

Both the ninth and the tenth goals were scored by Cori Williams. The first of which was a headed effort from a corner. The latter came from a great pass from Lloyd who found Williams in acres of space, and put it away to get her fifth of the afternoon, sending Cardiff into double figures.
